Lab Smart Board Usage
To Start:
1. Turn on NEC projector switch (located on back of
projector near power cord). Power light on top of projector
will turn orange indicating power is on.
2. Take protective lens cap off projector lens.
3. Press the On/StandBy switch once. The
projector fan will start, Status light will blink, On/StandBy
light will blink and then the projector light will come on.
4. Turn on computer JES31 and logon using your
Novell Username and Password.
Note: If you do not see the image of you
computer desktop projected onto the SmartBoard please check NVIDIA
settings.
a. Right Click NVIDIA settings icon in taskbar.

b. Hover mouse pointer over nView Display Mode.
c. Hover mouse pointer over Clone.
d. Click NEC VT70 Series Display First + Dell E773c Display Second
e. Click Yes
You should now see the image on your computer monitor projected
onto the Smart Board. Any image on your computer
screen will be displayed on the Smart Board; howerver, you cannot
control your computer by touching the Smart board.
If you want to control your computer by touching the Smart
Board you must orient the Smart Board and your computer. Follow
these instructions to orient the Smart Board.
1. A Smart Board Start Center Strip should be
displayed on the right side of the computer monitor.

2. Hoover mouse pointer over Start Center Strip and
click the Control Panel button (Looks like a wrench).

3. Click on Orient/Align the Smart Board and press red
X's projected on the Smart Board as instructed.

This procedure
orients the Smart Board surface to your computer monitor desktop.
You can now control your computer by simply touching the Smart Board
screen. You are now ready to use the Smart Board.
To Shut Down:
1. Press the On/StandBy button once. Look at
the Smart Board screen and you should see this message. Power Off
- Are You Sure? - Yes or No. Make sure Yes is selected
and press Enter on top of Projector. The projector fan will
start to run. IMPORTANT: You must
wait until the fan stops running before shutting the projector
completely off. The fan cools the projector lamp and prolongs its
life. Once the fan stops turn off power button on rear of
projector near power cord.
2. Place protective lens cap over lens.
3. Turn off computer.
Notes: The projector may have to be adjusted
sometimes so it is in focus or the image projected fits on the Smart
Board screen.
1. Manually position the projector on the table.
2. To Focus - Twist the ring around the lens.
3. Zoom button will adjust image so it is smaller or
larger.
Note: If the Orientation screen is located to the far right of the computer screen and you cannot access it fully try pushing the spacebar on the keyboard. This procedure may move the Orientation screen to it's proper position.
