COACH SELECTION
It will be the policy of the Moosabec Community School District to select
coaches by the following procedure:
A designated selection committee will be established. The selection committee
will be composed of the Principal of Jonesport-Beals High School and either the
Superintendent of Schools or the school’s Athletic Director; (Note: Both should
be members of the committee, if at all possible.) In addition the committee will
consist of members of the Board appointed at the May Board meeting, except in
the year of policy adoption, for the ensuing school year. The Principal of
Jonesport-Beals High School will serve as the chairperson of the selection
committee and will be responsible for calling the necessary meetings. The
meetings will be scheduled, in as much as possible, to allow for all selection
committee members to be in attendance.
The selection committee will review all applications for a coaching position and
select the candidates they desire to interview. Based on the interview and other
relevant data the selection committee will recommend their choice to the
Superintendent who, if in agreement, will make a recommendation to the Board .
In the event the Superintendent would recommend a different candidate than the
selection committee and an agreement cannot be reached, then the full Board will
interview both candidates. If the selection committee feels there are an
insufficient number of applicants for a position or no satisfactory applicant
for the position, then the position will be re-advertised and the selection
process will be repeated. In the event the Board rejects the recommendation of
the selection committee; the selection committee may either recommend another
candidate from the existing applicants or re-advertise the position and repeat
the selection process.
