TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES - DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
Jonesport School Department is connected to a network of schools and resources
that uses real-time interactive technology to provide expanded educational
opportunities to students and staff via a polycom unit. This system enables
schools across the state to share course offerings, professional development,
ideas and information regardless of the participants' geographic location.
This connection is to be used for educational purposes consistent with the
mission and goals of the schools. The Board and administration will consider and
address distance learning opportunities and issues when reviewing and developing
policies, preparing budgets, and planning for curriculum and professional
development. The Superintendent is authorized to enter into agreements with
other school units regarding the distance learning/polycoms.
All users of the polycom and participants in distance learning programs are
expected to comply with applicable Board policies, procedures and school rules.
Violations of Board policies, procedures and school rules may result in loss of
privileges to use the system or participate in distance learning programs, as
well as disciplinary sanctions under the applicable policy or rule.
The Superintendent is responsible for implementing the distance learning/polycom
program, although specific responsibilities may be delegated to administrators
or other appropriate staff at the Superintendent's discretion.
